Frequently Asked Questions

Is this app affiliated with the U.S. military or government?

No. Military Millionaire is an independent educational app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, TSP.gov, DFAS, the IRS, or any branch of the U.S. military. References to "TSP," "BRS," "VA," and other government programs are educational only.

Is this financial advice?

No. The app is for educational purposes only. It is not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. The developer is not a licensed financial advisor, CPA, or attorney. Always consult a qualified professional before making major financial decisions.

Where does the data come from?

All figures in the app are sourced from public information:

The full Sources & Data section is available inside the app on the TSP tab. The last data refresh date is shown there.

Do you collect any of my data?

No. Everything you enter stays on your device. The app does not connect to any server, does not use analytics or trackers, and does not require an account. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Why don't my numbers match my actual paycheck (LES)?

The Pay tab uses your selected rank, YOS, and BAH ZIP to estimate your monthly compensation. Real LES amounts depend on individual factors: specific filing status withholdings, state-tax withholdings, SGLI level, allotments, and special-pays specific to your situation. The "Match Your LES" section lets you override any value for pinpoint accuracy. Most defaults land within ~$40/month of an actual LES.

The TSP projection seems too high / too low.

TSP projections depend on many assumptions: rank progression, basic-pay raises, contribution rate, investment allocation, inflation, and the duration of compounding. Check each input on the TSP tab to make sure it matches your real situation. The "Range of Possible Outcomes" section shows the realistic range when you account for market volatility.

Why does the app show a "future dollars" number AND a "today's dollars" number?

Both matter. "Future dollars" is the actual number on a statement years from now. "Today's dollars" is what that future amount can buy at today's prices — what matters for life planning. Inflation slowly destroys purchasing power, so the today's-dollars number is usually 30-50% lower than future dollars over a long projection. The app shows both so you can plan honestly.

Will the app be available on Android?

Possibly in the future. The codebase is cross-platform but the focus right now is iOS through Apple's App Store and TestFlight.

I found a bug or an incorrect number. How do I report it?

Please email holdenholt1@gmail.com with:

If you're on TestFlight, you can also use the in-app "Send Beta Feedback" option.

Can I request a new feature?

Yes — same email address. Common requests so far: SBP (Survivor Benefit Plan) modeling, GI Bill education-benefit comparisons, dual-military spouse calculations. Future versions may add these.
